In order to determine eligibility for the gifted program in public school, IQ and achievement measures, along with student performance, are required by the district. In general, an IQ of 130 or above (98th percent) and achievement of 90% or greater in reading or math are necessary to be considered for inclusion in the gifted program.
A gifted evaluation involves the administration of a standardized test of intellectual functioning, as well as measures of reading and math achievement.
These tests also provide important information about a student's learning style and areas of relative strengths and weakness.
Gifted testing generally takes about 2 hours.
